Topic: What to expect in the 2028 NFPA 72, Notification, and Plan Review/Design Considerations.

Description: The meeting will provide an overview of anticipated changes in the 2028 edition of NFPA 72® that were discussed in the First Draft. Updates that have been made to occupant notification, and key considerations for system design and plan review.

Boulder Fire Rescue

David Lowrey serves as Chief Fire Marshal with the City of Boulder Fire Rescue in Boulder, Colorado. David has been with Boulder Fire for 30 years. Prior to his appointment to the position of Division Chief/Fire Marshal, he served eight years as the department’s Fire Protection Engineer. He oversees the Community Risk Reduction Division including code enforcement, building construction, life safety education, and fire investigations. David has extensive experience in plan review as well as inspecting and acceptance testing of fire protection systems. David currently serves as a principal member on NFPA 13 technical committee for installation as well as NFPA 13 correlating committee. He is the current chair of NFPA 72 technical committee for “Fundamentals of Fire Alarm and Signaling Systems” and an alternate on NFPA 3 and 4. David also services as the technical chair for NFPA 10, Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology at Oklahoma State University.
